After trying it for 2 years, and won a silver medal in London (2018) and a bronze one in Sao Paulo (2019), our goofy-footed rider Gustavo Ribeiro, has finally won his first SLS in Salt Lake city, leaving Nyjah Huston in second place.

During the competition, he kept super foccused following his own strategy and made several outstanding skate trick combos. He shone in every single trick and finally closed the competition with a 360 flip to frontside noseblunt slide on a huge handrail. The pressure of the final of the competition was heavy. The competition area was full of people and the support Gustavo receive from the viewers was insane. Gustavo was the penultimate participating and until Nyjah, the last one, landed and missed the trick, it was not known who was going to win the SLS. Finally, our portuguese rider did it, and he has become the first European skater winning the SLS.

Nyjah after participating in the Olympics, wanted to get rid of the thorn and win the SLS, but Gustavo outdid himself and left Nyjah in second place.

Last June and just 2 months before Olympics, Ribeiro battled a should injury and nothing has been easy for him during the recovery. It’s all about perseverance and about foccusing on your goals and dreams. As he highlights with a post on Instagram: “I remember me as a kid watching SLS and dreaming that one day I would be there! One of my biggest dreams came true and I couldn’t be more thankful!“.
